What We Do

• We offer 24 hour confidential emotional support by telephone.
• We receive visitors who wish to visit our branch to talk face to face.
• We answer emails and texts from people who prefer to express their feelings in writing.
• We give talks to local schools and community groups, email talks@tauntonsamaritans.org.uk to arrange

Confidentiality: Our service is completely confidential. We cannot use 1471 call tracing to identify or locate any caller. Our email and text services are also completely confidential and anonymous.

Samaritan’s services are available to everyone regardless of age, race, gender, creed or life style.

We also attend community conferences and provide information stands at community events throughout the region. An increasing number of these requests come from local schools who want to include our sessions in their course curricula. In this way we promote our work to the often “hard to reach” 15-16 year olds who at some point in their lives need someone to talk to or who themselves become Samaritans of the future.

In an effort to publicise our services we attend country shows, fetes, carnivals and other events and are represented at many local organisation’s meetings. Rural areas and emergency planning have received particular attention recently. We make every effort to ensure that our presence and availability are known throughout the area.
